ADMISSIONS

Ysgol Antur Cwm is a specialist independent school for boys aged 11–16 with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), where the primary need is Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) or ADHD.

We do not accept direct applications from families. All placements are made through local authorities (LAs) when a maintained school placement is no longer suitable or available.

How It Works

​

• Local authorities will typically explore all maintained school options before considering independent provision like ours. When they reach out to us, they’ll send the pupil’s IDP (Individual Development Plan) for us to review.

• If we feel the pupil’s needs match what we can offer, we’ll arrange a suitability meeting. This gives us, and the pupil and their family, a chance to meet, discuss the placement, and see whether we’re a good fit for each other.

​

• Ysgol Antur Cwm is a highly active, outdoor-based setting. If a young person isn’t comfortable in that environment, or if we feel their placement would significantly disrupt the progress of others, we’ll be honest about that. It’s important the fit is right for the learner, for our staff, and for our wider school community.

• Where a placement is agreed, we’ll confirm this with the local authority and set a start date together.
